BLACK HISTORY MONTH LECTURE
Singing for Relief. The Office of Intercultural Affairs and the Alliance of Multicultural Organizations have joined forces to orchestrate a Charity Karaoke Night for the victims of the South Asian tsunami. On Friday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m., faculty and staff will assemble in Erdman living room to perform their favorite songs and raise money for UNICEF. Several student affinity groups, including South Asian Women (SAW), Half and Half, Sisterhood, Zami, Alliance of International Students (AIS), Asian Students' Association (ASA), Rainbow Alliance, Eastern European Students' Association (EESA), and Bryn Mawr African and Caribbean Students' Organization (BACaSO), have come together to create the Alliance of Multicultural Organizations (AMO); this is the first project AMO has sponsored. Admission is $1, as are refreshments and song requests. There will also be a silent auction where one can bid on gifts from faculty, staff and students, such as handmade scarves or Latin dance lessons. Contact Vanessa Christman at vchristma@brynmawr.edu for more information. The event is open to all.
Mawrters to the Mall. On Saturday, Feb. 5, the Student Activities Office will sponsor a shuttle to transport Bryn Mawr students to the King of Prussia Mall, which will leave campus at 11 a.m. from the Campus Center parking lot. The bus will depart the mall at 5 p.m. Interested students must sign up in advance at the Student Life Office.
Black History Month Continues. As part of the Bryn Mawr College Black History Month Lecture Series, author Charles James of Swarthmore College will speak on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Multicultural Center living room.
