| ONE STAR HOTEL PLAYS BRYN MAWR
On Thursday, March 17, at 9 p.m., Philly favorites One Star Hotel will play live at Cambrian Row's Aelwyd as part of the Student Concert Series. Hailed as "Wilco without the weirdness" by Fingertips Music and praised for "a sound as thick with keyboards and synths as with Americana harmonies and ringing guitars" by Stylus Magazine, One Star Hotel has two full-length albums to its name, a self-titled debut and the newer Good Morning, West Gordon. Jamie Krems '06, the organizer of the Student Concert Series, describes them as a "huge buzz band" on the Philadelphia scene, adding "we're really lucky to get them to play at Bryn Mawr."
Opening for One Star Hotel are two college bands: Below Carmine and Evan and the Argonauts. Below Carmine, whom Krems calls "a few boys from NYU playing mellow rock," has played several tsunami-relief shows in recent months. Evan and the Argonauts, fronted by the talented Evan Pugh, will come all the way from Haverford College to play.
The show runs from 9 to 11:45 p.m. and is free to Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore students, faculty and staff. Contact jkrems@brynmawr.edu for more information.
