RUNNERS SMASH RECORDS IN 1500, 400 AND 400 HURDLES

Seniors Joanna Simonis and Joy Racowski broke three school records — one of them twice — as they competed on the track at the 2005 Grizzly Invite held at Ursinus College on Saturday, April 16.

Simonis won the 1500 meters in 4:43.33, breaking her own school record of 4:50.13. She also broke the 400-meter school record of 58.60 set by Claudine Johnson in 2002 by finishing in a time of 58.30. Simonis now holds three individual-event records in outdoor track (she also holds the 800-meter record) in addition to her share of four relay records.

The 400-meter hurdle school record was broken twice on Saturday. Lagdameo ran in the first heat and broke her own 2003 record of 1:10.37 by 68 seconds. Racowski stepped up in the second heat, finished in 1:08.51 and is now in possession of the school record. Racowski also holds a share of the distance medley relay.
