| ON CAMPUS: HAYLEY THOMAS AWARDS, CHAMBER MUSIC, COMMUNITY PICNIC, RACE FOR THE CURE
First Annual Hayley Thomas Awards. On Saturday, April 30, the College will unveil a portrait of the late Hayley S. Thomas and present the first annual Dr. Hayley S. Thomas Awards. Thomas, a beloved dean and mentor to hundreds of students, died last year at age 32. The new awards will be made annually to three students who "personify the characteristics that Dean Thomas exemplified: lifelong learning around diversity, demonstrated commitment to and advocacy for inclusion, and the ability to inspire others to action."
The event will take place at the Multicultural Center, 229 Roberts Road, from 3 to 5 p.m. Afternoon tea will be served.
Chamber Music at Bryn Mawr. The Bryn Mawr-Haverford Chamber Music Ensemble, led by Haverford Assistant Professor of Music Heidi Jacob, will perform in Goodhart Music Room from 8 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 2. On the program is music by Saint Saens, Jacob, Brahms, Matthew Greenbaum and Arthur Foote. Student musicians are Nina Salinger, Haverford '07, Julia Speigleman '08, Carol Chou '05, Mark Robinson, Haverford '05, Melissa Yarbourough '05, Rebecca Davis, Haverford '07 and Kate Chiapinelli, Haverford '07. A reception will follow the performance, which is free and open to all.

Organizers promise an abundance of top-notch chow as well as volleyball, bocce ball, croquet and Frisbee. A silent auction will feature gift certificates to local stores, tickets for local attractions and a wide assortment of goods and services; the Staff Association will sponsor the sale of arts and crafts made by members as well as goods offered by selected outside vendors.
