| SIMONIS SETS NEW SCHOOL, CONFERENCE RECORDS
IN FASTEST NCAA DIVISION III 800-METER RUN THIS YEAR
Bryn Mawr senior Joanna Simonis broke her own school and Centennial Conference records in the 800-meters this past weekend at the Widener Invitational.
Simonis finished the race in a time of 2:12.33, the fastest time run in Division III so far this year. Her performance is below the 2005 NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:15.80 and only .33 seconds from the automatic qualifying time of 2:12.00.
The previous 800-meter record of 2:12.62, the standard for both the school and the Conference, was set by Simonis on May 28 in the third heat of the 2004 NCAA Division III Championship 800-meter preliminaries. Simonis would continue on to the 2004 finals, in which she finished third and became Bryn Mawr's first All-American runner.
