| RECEPTION TO RECOGNIZE FACULTY AUTHORS
On Wednesday, May 11, The Friends of the Library, which is widely rumored to have the best cellar on campus, will honor 10 members of the Bryn Mawr faculty who published books in the last academic year with a wine-and-cheese reception in Canaday Library. This year's honorees (with book titles):
- Associate Professor of Social Work Dana Becker, The Myth of Empowerment: Women and the Therapeutic Culture in America
- Research Associate Aviva Sussman and Assistant Professor of Geology Arlo Weil, Orogenic Curvature: Integrating Paleomagnetic and Structural Analyses
- Assistant Professor of Growth and Structure of Cities Carola Hein, The Capital of Europe: Architecture and Urban Planning in the European Union
- Assistant Professor of Classics Radcliffe Edmonds, Myths of the Underworld Journey: Plato, Aristophanes and the 'Orphic' Gold Tablets
- Professor and Chair of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology James C. Wright, The Mycenaean Feast
- Rhys Carpenter Professor Emeritus of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology Brunilde Ridgway, Second Chance
- Chair of the Philosophy Department and Associate Professor of Philosophy Christine Koggel (with Wesley Cragg), Contemporary Moral Issues
- Senior Lecturer in English and Coordinator of the Feminist and Gender Studies Program Anne Dalke (with cover art by Professor of Chemistry Sharon Burgmayer), Minding the Light: Essays on Friendly Pedagogy
- Eunice Morgan Schenck 1907 Professor Emeritus of French Mario Maurin, Henri Peyre: His Life in Letters
Each of the titles will be available for sale by the Bookshop, and the authors will be present to speak a word or two about their work.
