| HONOR BOARD INAUGRATES NEW STUDENT-DESIGNED WEB SITE
Honor Board Head Valorie Jankowski '06 has unveiled a new Honor Code Web site at http://www.brynmawr.edu/honorcode. Featuring the most up-to-date version of the Code, a listing of Honor Board members, a Frequently Asked Questions section, abstracts and a calendar of Honor Code forums, the site was designed by Catherine Farman '08.
"I hope that the new site provides a more accessible location for current and prospective students and faculty members to find information about the Honor Code and the Honor Board," says Jankowski. "We plan to begin distributing case abstracts electronically each semester to promote use of the Web site as a resource and to cut extraneous spending on photocopying paper abstracts for campus mailbox distribution."
As the undergraduate student body engages in a thorough discussion of self-governance and inclusion at Bryn Mawr, Jankoswki hopes that the site will help make students aware of the opportunity to participate in a series of community forums on the Honor Code, and to address concerns about the secrecy of Honor Board proceedings. "The Honor Board hopes that our Web site will help to make more transparent the functions which do not fall under the purview of confidentiality and to elucidate more fully those functions that do."
Farman, the site's designer, participated in the College's Summer Multimedia Design Institute, which trains a group of Bryn Mawr undergraduates each year by matching them with project proposals submitted by members of the College's faculty and staff. She and several fellow graduates of the program have formed a student Web-design team called the Geek Squad. The group has undertaken several projects, from personal Web pages to academic department sites. For more information, e-mail BMCGeekSquad@hotmail.com.
