| STUDENT-ORGANIZED CONFERENCE BRINGS EXPERTS TOGETHER FOR DISCUSSION OF ENERGY INSECURITY
A conference titled "Energy Insecurity: Fuel for Conflict?" will gather energy experts from around the country at Haverford College Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, for a thorough discussion of energy policy. The event was organized by the Bryn Mawr and Haverford College Student Conference Organizers' Committee, a student group dedicated to designing and coordinating academic conferences on pressing contemporary issues. It is free and open to the public; for more information or to register, visit the SCOC Web site.
"Coming at a point when oil prices are increasing dramatically, and conflicts over energy resources are looming on the horizon, this conference will breed a more sophisticated knowledge of energy issues, and more importantly, potential solutions to the global energy problem," organizers say. "The conference aims to benefit the students of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, along with other students and community members in the area, by increasing their knowledge and awareness of the various complications and nuances associated with framing a more effective energy security policy."
Speakers from the energy industry, research groups, government and acedeme will discuss the themes of scientific innovation, economics, geopolitics and Asia as they relate to global energy resources.
