Junior Wins Prestigious Beinecke Scholarship to Fund Graduate Study in Psychology

Laura Sockol '07, a double major in English and psychology, is one of just 20 college juniors in the nation to win a 2006 Beinecke Scholarship, with a total award of $32,000 to fund graduate study.

			BMC Roboblimp to Take on Philly-Area Competitors A stylish purple-and-blue contestant will take its place alongside the basic blimps at the Second Annual Indoor Aerial Robotics Competition in the Drexel University Athletic Center on Sunday, May 7, marking Bryn Mawr's first venture into competitive robotics.

			Seven Bryn Mawr Student Athletes Named 2006 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars are exceptional student athletes who have excelled in both sports and their academic careers. Receiving accolades for Bryn Mawr were Lily Chen '08, Michelle Corder '08, Ashley Dawkins '08, Meg Grehl '08, Lucy Hu '06, Jen Lam '06 and Tonda Shimbo '07.

			Dancers, Players, Hoop Racers, Drummers to Grace Grand May Day April 30 This year's celebration is a Grand May Day, an enhanced celebration held every four years, and it holds the unusual distinction of occurring in April — on Sunday, April 30.

			Bryn Mawr Seniors Awarded Fulbrights Two Bryn Mawr seniors have been awarded Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships for 2006-07. Jodi Eisenberg, a major in comparative literature, will teach in Spain; Katherine Klenn, an English major with a minor in anthropology, will teach in South Korea.

			Chemistry Major Awarded Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Chemistry major Shadia Bel Hamdounia '06 will spend next year studying birthing practices in Denmark, India and South Africa, thanks to a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. The prestigious grant is awarded annually to about 50 graduating seniors nationwide.
