| Taste of Home Winners to Be Presented Saturday
Bryn Mawr students and their families will have an opportunity to sample the winning recipes in Bryn Mawr Dining Services' fifth annual Taste of Home Contest this Saturday, Nov. 4, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Haffner's Dorothy Vernon Room, as prizes are presented to the winning family chefs.
Through September, family members of Bryn Mawr students submitted their traditional recipes to the competition. Staff members from Dining Services first selected finalists from more than 30 entries for each of four categories. The dishes were then prepared by the expert cooks from Bryn Mawr Dining Services and judged on the basis of appearance, texture, taste and overall impression by a committee of Bryn Mawr staff and faculty members.
Individual winners were chosen for the categories of Entrée, Vegetarian Entrée, Side Dish and Dessert. Lovejoy's Luscious Ribs, which won under the category of Entrée, came from the home of Anne Lovejoy. Susan Sinnot's Spinach Salad with Sweet Potato and Feta won in the Vegetarian Entrée category. The winner of the Side Dish category, Farmhouse Potato Casserole, was created by Karen Von Dollen, and the winner of the Dessert category, Pineapple-Date-Nut Pudding, was sent by Emily Feenstra.
