| BMC and BMFI to Host Director Matt Tauber
The Department of German, Film Studies Program, and the Center for Visual Culture are sponsoring a visit by director, writer, producer Matt Tauber on Tuesday, Feb. 13. At 7 p.m., his most recent film, The Architect, will be screened at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute (824 W. Lancaster Ave.), followed by a Q & A with the director. The sponsoring organizations will also host a reception with Tauber for the College community before the screening, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the London Room in Thomas Hall.
The Architect is a carefully drawn character study focusing on a well-heeled architect (played by Anthony LaPaglia) residing in a bucolic suburb of Chicago. His contented existence is disrupted when he becomes embroiled with an activist who petitions for the demolition of a dangerous apartment complex in inner-city Chicago that he designed. The film, which also stars Isabella Rossellini, Viola Davis, and Hayden Panettiere, will be introduced and discussed by the film's writer-director, Matt Tauber. Admission is $8.75 for the general public, $4.50 for BMFI Members and free to all Bryn Mawr and Haverford students with current ID.
