Tabitha Performance to Focus on
Humans and Technology

Dancer

Red satin ribbon and rolling chairs complement flowing, falling and sometimes halting movements in "Radio Transmission," an exploration in dance of the pleasures and perils of contemporary communications technology. The piece, choreographed and directed by Marcellina Chavira '07, is to be performed this weekend by the Tabitha Dance Collective in its annual presentation of a senior dance major's thesis project. Performances will take place in Pembroke Studio at 8 p.m, on Saturday, March 3, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.

Laura Brymer '07, Claire Mallet '08 and Caitlin Romasco '09 join Chavira and Haverfordians Waldean Nelson '09 and Kat Zukaitis '07 in Chavira's meditation on human emotional connection in the information age. The piece, Chavira says, asks the question, "can we actually be alone in the presence of modern technology?"

The concert will open with "Porcelain," a piece by Adaobi Kanu '08. Featuring dancers Ji Hyang Kim '07, Elizabeth Rouse '08, Courtney Malpass '09 and Kate Coughlan '09, "Porcelain" investigates issues of body image and eating disorders.

The Tabitha performances are free and open to the public, but seating in Pembroke studio is limited. Reservations can be made by e-mailing jvasudav@brynmawr.edu. A reception will follow each performance.
