Ragtime Author E.L. Doctorow to Read

Author E. L. Doctorow, who is widely cited as the premier master of historical fiction, will give a reading at Bryn Mawr College on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Great Hall. Doctorow's appearance is free and open to the public.

Bankers, bikers, lawyers and librarians had all been stumped when a team from Bryn Mawr successfully spelled "consanguineous" to take the title in the Montgomery County Literacy Network's 13 th annual corporate spelling bee last week.

Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies and Director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University, will deliver the Flexner lectures on the United States, the Middle East and the Cold War.

The peacebots that demonstrated at the Franklin Institute on Oct. 20 were programmed by four students from Associate Professor of Computer Science Doug Blank's introductory course in computer science, which uses robotics to introduce the basic principles of the discipline.
