Combined Giving Campaign Update
The College's eighth annual Combined Workplace Giving Campaign began Wednesday, Oct. 25, and the goal for this year's campaign is $20,000. As of Wednesday, Nov. 14, a total of $6,790 has been pledged to the campaign — slightly ahead of last year's pace, but still thousands away from the goal with just a week to go.
The Giving Turkey pictured to the right represents the campaign's progress: so far approximately one-third of the feathers are brightly colored. The closer the campaign gets to its goal, the more colorful the turkey will become. Campaign organizers hope to display a fully feathered turkey in time for Thanksgiving, and ask donors to submit their forms to the Chief Administrative Office by Wednesday, Nov. 21, Thanksgiving eve.
The organizations the campaign supports are the AIDS Fund, Bread and Roses Community Fund, the Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Womens Way. Donors may even earmark their donations for specific agencies within some of the organizations. Lists of specific agencies and more information can be found in the folders available at Benham Gateway, Campus Center, Canaday Library, the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, Human Resources, Ward and the cafeterias of Erdman, Haffner and Rhoads.
A PDF version of a fact sheet about the organizations can be downloaded here. And a PDF version of the donor form can be downloaded here.
All donors, regardless of the size of their gift, are eligible to be entered into a drawing for four $25 gift certificates from Macy's. The College will also be giving away an additional four $25 gift certificates just for first-time givers.
"The campaign is a very easy and convenient way to give back to the community," says campaign committee member Tracy Kellmer, production manager in Public Affairs. "The campus community's generosity helps make life better for our neighbors."
