Horned Toads Take Third in National Championship The Bryn Mawr-Haverford women's rugby team, the Horned Toads, blanked Canisius College 10-0 to take third place in the Division III National Championships hosted by Stonehill College of Easton, Mass., on Sunday, Nov. 18. After an undefeated season of regular play and victory in the regional championships, the Toads suffered their first loss of the fall to Marist College in the semifinal match on Saturday. They will move up to Division II next year under the leadership of coach Ron Ziegler. For full coverage of the championship matches, see the Athletics Web site.
Diversity Conversation Goes Virtual. This Friday, Nov. 30, the Office of Intercultural Affairs' regular biweekly diversity conversation will take place, but not in its regular location. The discussion, titled "Lessons on Civic Engagement and Diversity — Starting With THIS Side of the Fence," will be held not in the Multicultural Center, but online, on the new Diversity Conversations Blog.
Program Coordinator Vanessa Christman invites all members of the community to join the OIA's experiment in online interaction, which will be initiated by Nell Anderson, co-director of the Civic Engagement Office and director of Praxis and Community Partnerships in Action. The conversation will begin, as usual, at noon; it will remain open indefinitely.
Staff Association Holiday Fair On Friday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., the Staff Association will host its annual holiday fair in Thomas Great Hall. Arts, crafts and baked goods made by staff members and students will be for sale, and the student mental-health-advocacy group Active Minds will hold a silent auction. Two woolen blankets made by the campus knitting society Knitwits will be raffled off, with proceeds of the $1 ticket sales to benefit Laurel House, a Norristown safe house for survivors of domestic abuse, and canned foods will be collected for Philabundance.
Breakfast With Santa The College's annual "Breakfast With Santa" will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. in Thomas Great Hall. Breakfast with Santa is an opportunity for members of the Bryn Mawr faculty and staff to bring their children to campus. Breakfast, crafts, photos of children with Santa, magnetic photo frames and a gift bag from Santa are included. The cost of the event is $10 per adult and $7 per child. Children under two may attend for free. To reserve a spot, download and complete this reservation form.
Completed forms and payment should be dropped off to the Student Life Office in the Campus Center no later than Monday, Dec. 3.
