The GSAS Academic Calendar is the table below that provides a schedule for students and faculty to meet important deadlines specified in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) Academic Rules. You can view the time and location of the scheduled GSAS events in the GSAS events calendar below the table. | Aug. 31- Sept. 1 | Diagnostic language exams |
| Aug. 31 | Last date to waive or accept Bryn Mawr Health Insurance |
| Aug. 29-Sept. 15 | Add/Drop period and registration through BiONiC for Fall 2023 |
| Sept. 5 | First Day of Classes |
| Sept. 15 | Last date to drop or add a course for Fall 2023 |
| Sept. 29 | Deadline to change incomplete grades to S or U from the 2022-2023 academic year. |
| Oct. 13 | Deadline to submit M.A. Candidacy online for a December degree through the required online M.A. Candidacy Application form |
| Oct. 13 | Deadline to schedule Preliminary Examinations for Fall 2023 |
| Oct. 14-22 | Fall Break |
| Oct. 30 | For students in Archaeology, Classics, and History of Art, last date for Ph.D. dissertation submission for a December degree; dissertations must be submitted at least six weeks before the proposed defense date. Dissertations should be prepared and submitted according to the Guidelines for Dissertation Format and Submission through the online Pre-defense Dissertation Submission Form |

| Nov. 11-20 | Pre-Registration for Spring 2023 |
| Nov. 19 | For students in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, last date for Ph.D. dissertation submission for a December degree; dissertations must be submitted at least three weeks before the proposed defense date. Dissertations should be prepared and submitted according to the Guidelines for Dissertation Format and Submission through the online Pre-defense Dissertation Submission Form |
| Nov. 20 | Deadline for applications for GSAS Financial Support from all continuing students for the academic year of 2024-2025 |
| Nov. 22-27 | Thanksgiving Break begins after last class and ends 11/27 at 8 a.m. |
| Dec. 8 | Last date for Ph.D. final oral examinations (defense of dissertation) for the Dec. degree. |
| Dec. 14 | Last Day of Classes. Last date for final oral and/or written M.A. examinations for a December degree |
| Dec. 15 | Last date for reporting course grades of M.A. candidates to the Registrar's Office for a December degree. Last date for departments to submit signed Record of M.A. Completion Forms to the GSAS office |
| Dec. 15 | Deadline for deposit of final revised version of all Ph.D. dissertations for the December degree and for all GSAS Ph.D. completion checklist items |
| Dec. 18 | Deadline to submit application for Curatorial Fellowship |
| Dec. 18 | Application for Ph.D. candidacy online due for students planning to take Preliminary Examinations in Semester II |
