Carolyn Solo

Carolyn's first career was teaching Latin and Greek at the middle and high school level. In 2012, she made a career change and began her MSS at Bryn Mawr GSSWSR. Carolyn graduated from GSSWSR in May 2014 and began working as an outpatient mental health therapist at the Wedge, a community mental health agency in Philadelphia. Carolyn worked at the Wedge as a therapist for three years, including one year as a supervisor of graduate student interns. Carolyn is excited to combine her clinical experience from this challenging practice setting with the rigorous research training she is receiving as a PhD student to improve service delivery in community mental health settings.

Research and Scholarly Interests

Carolyn's primary research interests include the history and medicalization of schizophrenia, supervision and clinician development in community mental health settings, and the efficacy and impact of peer support for people with severe and chronic mental illness.
