The American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) has named Scott Giacomucci, of the Graduate School of Social Work & Social Research, as the recipient of the 2022 David Kipper Scholar’s Award.

Established in 1994, the David A. Kipper’s Scholar's Award for writers and researchers is presented annually, when an appropriate candidate exists, to that member of the ASGPP whose writing and/or research has made a significant contribution to the understanding and practice of psychodrama, sociometry, or group psychotherapy.

Giacomucci’s selection for this award was based on his research, publications, teaching, and leadership in the psychodrama community. Some of his work in this area includes his role as a research associate and adjunct professor at Bryn Mawr College; his 2021 textbook publication, Social Work, Sociometry, and Psychodrama; his ongoing line of mixed-methods research on the effectiveness of trauma-focused psychodrama; his service as co-editor of a new international psychodrama book series by Springer Nature, his role as co-chief-editor of the Journal of Psychodrama, Sociometry, & Group Psychotherapy; and his leadership as co-chair of ASGPP’s Research Committee.
