Tania Melo '08 and Rachel Townsend '09 met on campus and worked together as tour guides for the Admissions Office. They have been happily married since August 2014.
How did you meet?
We met through Emily Norman '08, Rachel's Customs person and, eventually, Tania's Traditions partner. We aren't sure of the exact instance but we think it was at a dorm party, possibly on a roof that we were definitely not supposed to be on ...
Share your favorite story or anecdote about your relationship.
A funny story about our relationship is that it seems everyone knew we liked each other before we actually did. When we told one of the Admissions counselors that we were dating, she responded by saying, "Yeah, for a few months now, right?" As far as we knew, we'd only been dating a couple weeks at that point!
How do you support and remain connected to the College today and why?
I suppose it's a testament to how much our experiences at the Admissions Office meant to both of us, together and separately, but we both serve as Alumnae/i Admissions Representatives and are co-coordinators of the AARs in Washington State! We both like to serve the College and find it rewarding to continue to be connected to the College through its applicants. Tania is also serving on her 10-year reunion committee this year!
