A Message from Jean MacIntosh Turfa, Ph.D. '74

November 8, 2019

I had the privilege of working under Bruni’s supervision on a master’s thesis on Archaic Greek “Man and Dog Stelai”—it presaged what would be a high point of my Bryn Mawr (Etruscan) Ph.D. graduation ceremony when Bruni marched with me in the academic procession. Suddenly, Charles de Gaulle Ridgway, poodle, raced from his home, across the hockey fields, to be with his “mother” and escorted us to the tent.

Bruni also shared with me a family of precious cats earlier rescued by Pete’s dear Mum: Agatha, Billy, Misty, Jonathan and his sons David and Alonzo. I did so enjoy sending a photo of grey and white David Ridgway to the other famous Ridgways, David and Francesca, in the U.K.—I could truthfully explain that little David looked just like his father (the grey and white Jonathan of course) and the Other Ridgways greatly enjoyed the humor!

A Happy 90 to a very special friend!

Mlaχ mlakas nurφalχ alpnu muluvenice!
