Bryn Mawr College's Digital Competencies Program helps students build the digital skills and critical perspectives on technology needed for success in the digital age.

In honor of Cyber Security Awareness Month, October's Competency of the Month is 3.2 Privacy, Security, and Preservation. It’s easy to build this skill this month—the single most important thing you can do to strengthen your skills in 3.2 is to take the InfoSec Program. (Most first-years and new faculty completed this over the summer.) Phishing and spam attacks on college campuses are always high, especially around midterms and finals, but knowing the common attacks will help keep you (and Bryn Mawr!) safe.

Instructions for accessing and completing the program in Moodle will be sent on Monday, 10/2.

Plus, keep an eye out for this month for news about File Action Day, a dedicated day where the whole campus will be cleaning and protecting their data!

If you want to extend your 3.2 skills beyond October, check out our Nov. 28 Tech Talk on Tech Talk: Passw0rd SeCur1ty M@de EaSy. The calendar description is probably the most dramatic Tech Talk description ever written.

Markers, pamphlets, and handout from T-shirt contest.
We talked to many students during the campus-wide picnic on Sep. 15, and got a whole bunch of fantastic designs for the Digital Bryn Mawr T-shirt contest! The winner will be announced in next month's newsletter on the digital competencies website. Thank you to everyone who submitted!

Another highlight of this month was the launch of a new, student-created video explaining the progress of our HoloLens pilot program, a partnership with Pearson. In the video, student augmented reality developers show off their apps, explain the collaborative process, and discuss the experience of breaking new ground in an emerging technology.
