College Dedicates New Albano Physics Lab as Part of Park Phase I Completion
Alumnae, students, colleagues, friends and family gathered in the newly renovated Park Science Center on October 27, 2018, to celebrate Alfonso Albano, Marion Reilly Professor Emeritus of Physics.
Former students traveled from Spain, Texas, Massachusetts, New York, D.C. and elsewhere to commemorate Albano's remarkable 35-year career at Bryn Mawr (1970-2005), distinguished by outstanding teaching, internationally recognized research and the sustained leadership he provided to the Department of Physics, which received the 1998 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.
Thanks to gifts from his students, colleagues and friends, the new laboratory includes laboratory stations for students to explore various experiments critical to understanding the advancement of physics in the 20th Century and six special dark rooms for optics experiments clustered around common space where students collaborate and share their results.
