Drive: Book Drive for Books Through Bars

Books Through Bars is a group which collects books for incarcerated folks. The Drop-Off boxes are in every dorm, Guild, Thomas (near the Quita Woodward Room), Park, and the Campus Center. The drive will continue until the last day of classes.

People in prison write to Books Through Bars for many reasons; Many prison libraries and educational programs are inadequate, some people are in solitary confinement (SHU, “the hole”) and can’t access libraries, classes, or other programs, and some prisons have regulations which limit family and friends of prisoners to only send books to their loved ones through bookstores and publishers, which can be prohibitively expensive.

BTB especially needs urban fiction novels, true crime novels, paperback dictionaries, textbooks, black liberation books, religious texts, law books, and instructional (art, tattoo, craft, tradeskill, etc.) books.
