Lecture: A Brief History of Environmental Success Presented by Susan Solomon

September 28, 2018

Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, 4:30-5:30PM, Park Science Room 25

Humans have faced a series of national and global environmental challenges in the past half-century, including smog, the use of lead in gasoline, ozone depletion, and much more. This talk reveals how combinations of science, public policy, industry participation, and the engagement of citizens succeeded in addressing past environmental challenges. Solomon probes how the lessons learned help us understand how to better manage today’s environmental problems, including climate change. A reception will follow.

Susan Solomon is the winner of the National Academy of Sciences’ 2017 Arthur L. Day Prize and Lectureship, and the Lee and Geraldine Martin Professor of Environmental Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
