Rally on Tuesday, May 1, 5-7PM, Philadelphia City Hall
On May 1st, the Bi-Co Migrant Rights Coalition and the Bi-Co Anti-Capitalists invite you to join them in attending The Philadelphia Coalition for a Just District Attorney’s "Break the Cages, Fund the People" Rally for an end to mass incarceration and a call to reinvest in the communities most affected! The groups also encourage you to stay afterwards to do a short group reflection on the experience (Snacks provided!). SEPTA costs can be reimbursed for BMC students by LILAC|Civic Engagement!
For too long, “tough on crime” policies have deliberately targeted our black, brown, and working class communities -- ICE is tearing apart families, our youth are being criminalized in school and treated as adults by our overzealous criminal justice system, and the legal system's reliance on cash bail continues to overcrowd our prisons, keeping the House of Corrections facility open despite being notorious for its decrepit conditions.
