Bryn Mawr’s A Capella Groups Host Concert for Earth Day

April 27, 2016 By Zubin Hill '17

In honor of Earth Day and as part of Bryn Mawr's Earth Week celebration, four a cappella groups hosted a performance in Erdman Common Room on Friday, April 22.

In the video above the Night Owls sing "Primadonna."

Ostensibly in order to conserve paper, the group and member names were chalked on the wall behind the performers.

The groups performing were the Tri-College group Chaverim, which  performs only international music; the contemporary music group the Night Owls; oldies group Lavender’s Blue; and the Acabellas who perform music from contemporary to oldies. Each group performed approximately 3 songs.

A cappella groups are a Bryn Mawr College mainstay, with each group hosting multiple events during the academic year. Inter-group performance collaborations are common, such as during the a cappella semester-opening concert which is held every semester at Bryn Mawr. All Bryn Mawr groups perform their final concert of the year during May Day.
