This spring Bryn Mawr College was delighted to welcome Tracy Weber as the Director of Global Education. Tracy has more than 15 years of experience on the field of international education, developing and managing programs for universities, government, and non-profit organization. During this time, she has developed a wide range of expertise in study abroad, including student advising, program design, curriculum integration, best practices, overseas health and safety, emergency response, and crisis management. Prior to her time at Bryn Mawr, Tracy created study abroad and international internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of California Berkeley and The George Washington University. She has also led programming for international high school students, college students and faculty scholars through organizations like the Japanese Embassy, Fulbright, and Sister City exchange.

Tracy started working at Bryn Mawr on March 9th at the beginning of the Spring Break week, and just a few days later was working remotely from home because of the COVID-19 situation. She spent her first weeks communicating with 40 BMC students studying abroad and supporting their safe return home as the pandemic spread and programs closed around the world. When asked about her time at Bryn Mawr Tracy said:

"I had just moved from California, and while the movers were delivering boxes, I was on the phone coordinating the evacuation of several students ahead of border closings in places like Cape Town and Marrakesh! I have been so impressed by the sense of community and caring shown by Bryn Mawr students, parents, and colleagues across campus - this is so important in a crisis, and says a lot about the character of the College. While I didn't have the quiet introduction to campus that I was expecting by starting during Spring Break, I have gotten to know Bryn Mawr in a way that wouldn't have happened otherwise, and I am thrilled to be part of the BMC community!"

Tracy holds a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, and an M.A. in International Communication from American University's School of International Service. She studied abroad in Switzerland, Japan, and Russia, and spent three years teaching and working in Japan on internationalization efforts for the city of Yokkaichi.
