Gabby Sugarman '20

Major: French (A.B./M.A.)

Key Bryn Mawr Experiences: Study abroad at the Institut d’Avignon in 2019, Fall 2018 semester in Paris, NDDH Supervisor, Owl Ambassador as a first year, DLT (as a Customs Person and Hall Advisor), Art Club Co-President, French Senior Major Representative, working for Conferences and Events

Hometown: Newtown, PA

People I want to thank: I want to extend my thanks to the wonderful French department, especially Prof. Armstrong and Prof. Le Menthéour, who have given me endless guidance, support, and opportunities throughout my time at Bryn Mawr. I also want to send my love to the staff in Dining Services, especially at New Dorm. Richard, Maly, Steven, Shana, and all the full-time staff: you made NDDH feel like home. To Angie, ViAnna, Joi, Kimmy, and everyone in my Hall Advisor Area-Group: you are all wonderful, and I’m so happy I had the opportunity to work with you all this year. And of course, I want to thank my mom, my siblings, and the dear friends I made at Bryn Mawr, without whom nothing would have been possible.

Words of wisdom for the Class of 2024: Try to be kind and patient with yourself (and others, of course) - college is hard enough already! Give yourself the space to try new things and explore. You deserve to do things that inspire you.

What I will remember most about my time at Bryn Mawr: Wine and cheese nights. The coconut cake at NDDH every other Thursday night. Late night Supervisor meetings. Community Art Nights and silly banter. And most of all, any time spent with friends, holding each other up even when things got rough.
