Class of 2022: Catherine Beveridge

April 27, 2022
""
Major: Political Science with concentrations in American politics and law and policy.

Hometown: Scarsdale, NY

Key Bryn Mawr Experiences
  • Starting out as a physics major but switching to Political Science. It was not easy, but the tools I gained during freshman spring semester will serve me well the rest of my professional life.
  • Joining and leading the Bi-Co Scottish Country Dancing Club as Co-president. I had the opportunity to not only learn something new, but discover I had a gift for it and meet some incredible Tri-Co alums!
  • Doing an externship in The House of Representatives and taking a Praxis course to work as a press intern in the Senate remotely during my senior year.

Post-graduation plans: I am pursuing law school within the next few years, but I will take time to find work doing legal advocacy or political constituency work.

People you want to thank: I want to thank my parents for their endless love and support and my brothers who made visits home so much warmer. My friends from all four years of Bryn Mawr, you are all such wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting. My professors, for pushing my limits and offering help when I needed it. Thank you all for walking with me on this journey.

Message for the rest of the Class of 2022: We often avoid the things that feel most natural to us. Senior year of high school my mom asked “Are you sure you don’t want to be a lawyer?” after I took my AP US government exam. I wanted to try something else. But in coming back to law and politics, I found my strengths and my passions again in my academic work and my internship. If your gut is telling you that you want to do something else, make that change. We have been through a lot of changes these past few years, but they have shown we have the strength to adapt and flourish.

What will you remember most about your time at Bryn Mawr?
I will remember the people. I will remember the traditions. I will remember all the pieces of it that make me who I am today. I want to remember all of it, good and bad. I took in all I could from this place, and I can walk away saying I had a full experience I will treasure for the rest of my professional and personal life.
