As Professor Daniel Torday moved his novel writing workshop online, he decided to look for ways to not only spur conversation among his students, but to also engage those outside his classroom. One way he's reaching out is by publishing long responses to each of the books the class is reading onto his website.
"The idea is just to get folks reading and thinking while they're in isolation," says Torday. "My students and I feel like it's a generosity to let them in on our process."
First up for class discussion is the novella This is Pleasure by Mary Gaitskill.
