On Friday, Feb. 5, Bryn Mawr students are invited to stop by the Campus Center and show their appreciation for the generous donors who make attending Bryn Mawr possible as the College celebrates the eighth annual “Bryn Mawr Gives a Hoot Day.” Give a Hoot Day marks the point in the school year when tuition ceases to cover the cost of a Bryn Mawr education and support from donors and other sources takes over.
Students are invited to stop by the Campus Center between 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. to sign one thousand thank-you cards to donors and enjoy complimentary cookies and hot chocolate! Development staff will be on hand to answer any questions students have about giving and to share information on the role philanthropy plays in sustaining Bryn Mawr. The Campus Center festivities will feature alumnae/i testimonials, highlighting the meaning and impact of Give A Hoot Day throughout the Bryn Mawr community. Keep your eyes peeled across campus for our “BMC Tags,” or price tags that highlight the hidden costs of a BMC education ranging from things like the price of access to scholarly journals to the cost of a set of graduation robes.
Thousands of individuals – alumnae/i, parents, and friends – give to The Bryn Mawr Fund each year. Last fiscal year, 2014-2015, Bryn Mawr’s supporters gave $5.3 million to the College through the Bryn Mawr Fund, which supports everything from financial aid and student internships to free laundry and the Blue Bus. Participation by undergraduate alumnae in The Bryn Mawr Fund remained at 37% in the 2015 fiscal year, and the College hopes to build on this momentum in 2016. Bryn Mawr donors choose to give because they believe in the deeply-meaningful and life-changing qualities of a Bryn Mawr education. They want the Bryn Mawr education they know and love to endure.
Simply put, Bryn Mawr donors “give a hoot!” “Hoot” for Bryn Mawr by sharing your Owl pride (and gear) on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook on Friday, February 5th.
