Health Professions Advising Office Officials Take Part in Regional Conference

May 31, 2017

Associate Dean Glenn Cummings and Assistant Dean Gail Glicksman will represent Bryn Mawr's Health Professions Advising Office (HPAO) at the biennial conference for the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, held June 8-11 in Philadelphia.

At a plenary session opening the second day of the conference, Glenn will be presenting results of a survey he and HPAO colleague Isabelle Barker put together, soliciting information from medical schools about what they value in the letters that advisors and faculty write on behalf of premedical students. He will also be a panelist at a discussion about postbaccalaureate premedical programs, including Bryn Mawr's, and how best to prepare applicants for their competitive application process.

Gail has organized a group of panelists who will discuss health professions school technical standards and accommodations for students with disabilities and offer insight into the ways that students and educators partner to meet challenges during didactical and clinical training. The focus of this year's conference is on promoting relationships between pre-health advisors and health professions educators.
