The below message was sent to faculty and staff on February 12, 2026.
Dear faculty and staff colleagues:
Please join me in welcoming Katie Nash as our inaugural vice president for external relations. She will join the Bryn Mawr College community on February 23 from the University City Science Center in Philadelphia, where she has served as senior director for external affairs since 2018.
Katie brings 20 years of experience in nonprofit and government public engagement, policy development, program management, public relations, communications, and marketing. In her role at the Science Center, she oversaw government affairs, government fundraising strategy and operations, and external engagement for one of the region's leading innovation and economic development organizations.
She previously served as director of public engagement for the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, where she helped launch the Keystone Scholars universal at-birth higher education savings program and Pennsylvania's ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) savings accounts, and helped coordinate the Treasurer's Task Force on Private Sector Retirement Security. She also held positions at the New York State Assembly, the New York Lottery, and the University of Pennsylvania, and launched her career as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA). Her work centers on bringing partners together to build consensus, advance projects, secure funding, shape policy, and move shared priorities forward.
Katie holds a BA in Anthropology from Haverford College and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the Fels School of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.
Special thanks to Bob Miller, vice president for alumnae/i affairs and development, for chairing our search committee and to the search committee members: Charity Alinda, director of international student & scholar advising and special assistant to the provost for strategic global initiatives; Michelle Francl, Frank B. Mallory professor of chemistry; Shannon Kearns, chief of staff; Nichole Reynolds, interim vice president of enrollment; and Samara Sit, vice president of communications and marketing.
Katie will oversee efforts to elevate Bryn Mawr's profile and broadcast the college's rich legacy to key and emerging external audiences. In close partnership with college leadership and our community, she will be responsible for identifying and building strategic relationships with external partners to raise the college's visibility, reputation, and relationships locally, regionally, and nationally.
Sincerely,
Wendy Cadge
