The thoughts of the Bryn Mawr community are with those affected by Harvey. Dean's Office staff have reached out to our students from southeast Texas and are working directly with them. In addition, any community members in need of support can contact Vanessa Christman at vchristm@brynmawr.edu.
Bryn Mawr has a special relationship with the Houston area through our partnership with the Posse Foundation. Since the fall of 2013, ten students from Houston have come to Bryn Mawr each year as Posse scholars. As Posse Liaison, Dean Christman has been in contact with each of those scholars, some of whom are already on campus and others who are trying to arrange transportation to Bryn Mawr. Their mentors and others have reached out to them, and we will continue to count on this network of support going forward.
While students' deans are a primary point of contact, those who wish to connect with religious advisors or local communities of faith should contact Dean Christman or consult the Communities of Faith portion of our website.
We share a deep concern for our alumnae/i, families, and other community members in Houston as well as all those affected by the storm. For those wondering how to help, the Civic Engagement Office will be posting information about organizations providing assistance to areas hit by the hurricane on their website.
