
Billie Jo Ember, M.A. '08, coordinator of the Russian Department and co-director of the Russian Language Institute, has received a grant from the Fulbright Scholarship Program to attend the 2018 Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar in Germany.
The Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminars help U.S. international education professionals and senior higher education officials create empowering connections with the societal, cultural, and higher education systems of other countries.
Ember earned her Bryn Mawr degree in Russian and Second Language Acquisition and has studied in Russia three times. Her last experience was through the American Councils for International Education’s International Scholar program where she interned at the American Councils’ office in Moscow and enrolled in an individualized language program at Moscow International University.
At Bryn Mawr, Ember has served as co-chair of the College's Overseas Study and Engagement Subcommittee; been the Administrative/Professional Representative for the Staff Association Executive Council; and served on the Institutional Review Board. In addition to her other roles, Ember is the grants associate for The Language Flagship and Office of Sponsored Research and coordinator of the Russian Language Flagship.
With the support of the U.S. government and through binational partnerships with foreign governments, the Fulbright Scholarship Program sponsors U.S. and foreign participants for exchanges in all areas of endeavor, including the sciences, business, academe, public service, government, and the arts, and continues to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of other countries.
