Saskia Subramanian Elected as Next Board Chair

October 27, 2025

The below message was sent to faculty, staff, students, alumnae/i, and current and former board members on October 27, 2025.

Dear Bryn Mawr College community,

I am delighted to share excellent news from our October board meeting. As you may be aware, I will conclude my service as Chair of the Bryn Mawr Board of Trustees in May 2026. After a thoughtful and consultative selection process, our Board of Trustees has chosen Saskia Subramanian ’88 MA ’89 (PhD Sociology, University of Pennsylvania) to serve as the next Chair of the Board of Trustees, beginning June 1, 2026.

We are truly fortunate to have such a happy match between Bryn Mawr’s next chapter and a willing and supremely well-suited next board chair. Saskia has served as a dedicated board member since 2015, developing a deep understanding of Bryn Mawr’s mission and establishing rich connections throughout our community. She is vitally connected to our alum network through her service as President of the Alumnae Association from 2016-2021. She is also a proud Haverford parent and co-chairs their Parent Leadership Council with her husband, Marcus Linden (Haverford ’88).

Saskia’s work beyond Bryn Mawr aligns with and illuminates her service to Bryn Mawr. Her board service has included the Roessler Chadwick Foundation Group, which explores expansion into international educational markets, as well as the Roessler Chadwick Foundation, where she served as board chair of Chadwick School and Chadwick International in Korea. During her career as a research sociologist in the School of Medicine at UCLA, Saskia focused on women’s health issues and disparities.

We owe particular thanks to our Board Chair Working Group— Sally Bachofer ’97, Jing-Yea Amy Hsu ’94, Karen Kerr ’89, and Teresa Wallace ’79—who consulted closely with their fellow Trustees to nominate Saskia for the position.

I am looking forward to collaborating with Saskia over the coming months to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. I have deeply appreciated the opportunity to work with this community to advance Bryn Mawr’s mission. It will be a joy to support Saskia and the Board as we begin this new chapter next spring.

Please join me in an Anassa Kata for Saskia.

With all best wishes,

Cynthia Archer ’75
Chair, Board of Trustees
