Special Collections Manager Marianne Weldon Named to Pa. Cultural Response Team
Marianne Weldon, collections manager for Bryn Mawr’s Special Collections, has been selected to be a member of the Pennsylvania Cultural Response Team.
Coordinated by the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts and funded by an IMLS National Leadership Grant, the Pennsylvania Cultural Response Team is comprised of approximately 50 emergency management and cultural professionals from across the state. The volunteers will receive intensive training on emergency response and recovery resources, health and safety, and best practices for response to an emergency involving a cultural institution. Once trained, the volunteers will be asked to be deployed as needed to regional institutions.
Weldon also serves on the steering committee for the suburban Philadelphia Alliance for Response Network (Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and Chester Counties): A program of the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. The Alliance for Response program is designed to build bridges between the cultural heritage and emergency response communities before disasters happen, with the ultimate goal of forming new partnerships, policies, and cooperative planning efforts.
