Depart your gateway city for Portugal.
Upon arrival, transfer to Baiona, Spain. Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner at the Parador.
On a guided walk through Baiona, see its historic churches and other landmarks, then step aboard a replica of the Pinta caravel in the harbor to get a glimpse into what life at sea was like for the crew. Explore Baiona on your own in the afternoon.
Travel to Guimaraes, the birthplace of Portugal's first king. Pass by Guimaraes Castle, fortified in the 13th century, and admire the wonderfully preserved medieval architecture in the compact historic center. Enjoy a delicious lunch before heading to the Bom Jesus de Monte Sanctuary near Braga for a guided tour. Return to Baiona and enjoy time on your own.
Get a sense of traditional life by the sea in the small fishing village of Combarro. Enjoy a visit to a winery along with a flavoful Galician lunch.
Visit Porto, Portugal's second-largest city. Its vibrant centerpiece is the Ribeira district hugging the Douro's riverbanks. Begin with a guided tour of Se do Porto, or Porto Cathedral, and continue on a guided walk in the Ribeira to the Sao Bento Railway Station. Enjoy lunch on your own in Ribeira before a short cruise along the Douro to Vila Nova de Gaia. Upon return to Baiona, enjoy dinner together.
Feel the special ambience of this revered destination, where life revolves around its grand cathedral. Below the chapel of the cathedral lies the apostolic crypt containing the remains believed to be those of St. James the Apostle. Later, walk with your guide through old town and browse Mercado de Abastos' bustling aisles. Make your own plans for lunch before departing for Baiona.
On the way to Oia, enjoy the untamed beauty of the Camino Portuges Coastal pilgrimage route before pausing for coffee. Next, travel to A Guarda and enjoy lunch. Afterwards, ascend to the top of Mount Santa Trega for a tour of the archaeological site of Castro de Santa Trega. At the parador in the evening, join fellow travelers for a farewell reception and dinner.
Transfer to Porto to return home!
