Major: Neuroscience
Hometown: Los Gatos, California
Future Plans: I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania’s Post-Baccalaureate Specialized Studies Pre-Health Program
Is there any class, moment, or professor that was especially memorable or impactful?
Patrese Robinson from Haverford College has made my experience here very memorable. Not only is she a wonderful professor, whom I had during my freshman year, she is also a great advisor for my senior thesis.
In addition, Laura Been, also from Haverford College, has made a huge impact.
Any advice for incoming students?
Bryn Mawr College and the bi-co offer many opportunities. If you want an opportunity with a professor (research etc.), do not take no for an answer. I was a freshman who pestered Dr. Robinson-Drummer for a position in her lab. She had never taken a freshman and kept saying no. She eventually gave in, and now I am doing my thesis with her!
Studying Neuroscience at Bryn Mawr
The desire to understand human and animal behavior in terms of nervous system structure and function is longstanding. Historically, researchers and scholars have approached this task from a variety of disciplines, including medicine, biology, psychology, philosophy, and physiology. The field of neuroscience emerged as an interdisciplinary approach, combining techniques and perspectives from these disciplines, as well as emerging fields such as computation and cognitive science, to yield new insights into the workings of the nervous system and behavior.
