Update regarding campus building card access

October 6, 2026

The below message was sent to students, faculty, and staff on October 6, 2026.

Dear students, faculty, and staff,

As a follow-up to our September 26 message, we are continuing to expand OneCard-only access to additional campus buildings this academic year as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our community. This work also supports our efforts to identify certain campus spaces as off-limits to visiting ICE agents and/or external law enforcement activities. Card readers will be installed on a rolling basis this academic year. Installation will begin next week, during fall break, in Old Library. We will provide additional information on activation of the new door access system after installation is complete.

Phase one: Old Library and Carpenter Library, Park Science, and the John Maloney Campus Safety buildings.

Phase two: Helfarian, Wyndham Alumnae House, Phebe Anna Thorne School, Ward.

Phase three: Cartref, English House, remaining unlocked doors in Erdman, and West House.

Facilities Services will contact faculty and staff in each affected building directly with additional details before the card readers are operational. Do continue to keep your OneCard handy as you travel across campus to ensure you have access to campus spaces as needed.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Campus Safety.

Sincerely,

Chris
