Upon arrival in Osaka, Orbridge representatives will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the evening at leisure.
Set off for Osaka Castle- this 15-acre property features original gates and turrets from the 16th century, along with a series of moats and lush gardens. Continue to a Japanese Noh theater and gain insight into the history of tradition of classical Japanese dance-drama performances. Following lunch, enjoy independent time in Dotonbori and enjoy a special welcome dinner.
Visit Nara, an ancient city abundant with UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic monuments, and important pilgrimage routes. Explore the UNESCO-listed Todai-ji Temple and view it's nearly 50-foot tall bronze Great Buddha statue. Continue to Kasuga Taisha, a shrine dedicated to the deity responsible for the protection of the city. Gather for lunch before traveling to Kyoto, where you can enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.
Visit the Kyoto Museum of Crafts & Design and then break for lunch on your own and time to explore the ancient pedestrian streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka. Rejoin the group for a tour and tasting at a local sake brewery and then tour Fushimi Inari Taisha, a shrine famous for its thousands of bright red-orange torii gates. In the evening, enjoy a sushi-making experience.
Board Japan's famous Shinkansen bullet train for a day trip to Hiroshima, a vibrant urban hub known for its robust food culture. Enjoy time to explore the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, and the poignant A-Bomb Dome- one of the few buildings to remain standing.
Tour Nijo-jo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and former imperial palace of the first shogun of the Edo Period and his family. Experience a tranquil tea ceremony before continuing to Arashiyama Bamboo Grove for a walking tour. Conclude the day with a visit to UNESCO-listed Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion.
Travel via Shinkansen bullet train to Hakone, a mountainous town nestled within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Peruse the Hakone Open Air Museum and arrive to your accommodations, a traditional ryokan featuring open-air hot springs.
Set off for Hakone Ropeway Owakudani Station and board a cable car ascending to an observation platform for views of the valley. Embark on a sightseeing cruise across Lake Ashi- have your camera ready to capture shots of Mt. Funji if the skies are clear.
En route to Tokyo, stop to see Oshino Hakkai, a set of eight spring ponds fed by acquifer water from Mt. Fuji. Continue to the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, stopping at Oishi Park for stunning panoramic views. Enjoy your first evening in Tokyo at your leisure.
Visit Miji Shrine, where you can take part in a traditional Shinto activity like making an offering at the main hall or writing out a wish on an ema (wooden plaque). Afterwards, take a guided panoramic tour of Shibuya Crossing, a bustling shopping and entertainment hub. Visit the Tokyo National Museum before joining the Welcome Reception for the International Forum in the evening.
The International Forum will have a full day of programming, including alumnae/i panels, networking opportunities, and career programing. If your traveling companions would like to continue touring Tokyo, they can explore Tokyo Imperial Palace and the Imperial Palace East Gardens. Continue to Tokyo Tower, the country's tallest for unbeatable 360 degree views. Have free time in Ginza before joining the group for an origami workshop.
The International Forum continues with more programming in the morning. After lunch, you have the choice to join a cultural excursion or begin your journey home.
