ReWritings
February - June 2025
1912 Gallery, 1st Floor Canaday Library
We rewrite classic and canonical stories in many ways. Retellings and adaptations; prequels and sequels; parody, abridgement, and imitation; mashup, gender swapping, and alternate universes. Published-in-print and fanfiction authors are telling new stories based on older works today, but the process has been going on for centuries. This exhibition explored the many ways these stories can be ReWritten.
ReWritings was curated by Marianne Hansen, Margaret Duhon, and Vivienne Schlemmer.
ReWritings ReWritten: A Novel New Zine which was created from contributions by exhibitions staff and student writers in connection with the exhibition can be found here: https://repository.brynmawr.edu/bmc_books/47/
