How I Met My: Rachel Khanna '93

Rachel Khanna

Rachel Khanna '93 met her husband through her BMCBFF, Rowena DasGupta '93

While Rowena and I had been living in the same dorm (Pembroke West) we didn't really know each other, and it wasn't until we went on a field trip to Western Pennsylvania for a Geology Class that we started to chat. We quickly discovered that we had many things in common - she and I had both grown up abroad and shared a passion for international relations, among other interests. We became best friends and spent almost all our time together throughout our remaining time at Bryn Mawr.

During our Junior year, Rowena and I spent Thanksgiving break together in New York city and that is when I first met her cousin, Jaideep. However, it wasn't until the summer after our graduation that he and I became friends. I was preparing to complete a Masters Degree at Columbia University and he was working in New York City for the summer while completing his MBA in North Carolina. Our relationship began in New York City that summer and the following summer we were engaged to be married. We married in a traditional Indian wedding on January 1, 1995. Jaideep has been my best friend ever since.

Jaideep and I have been married almost 25 years, and have four daughters, three of whom are now in college. We currently live in Connecticut with our youngest daughter, 4 dogs, 2 cats and 3 alpacas. We've had the opportunity to live in London and Singapore, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and had many other adventures together!
