I Met My: The Kannambadi Family

The Kannambadis "met" Bryn Mawr on a last-minute college trip and now truly feel like part of the Bryn Mawr family. Their daughter Anisha is a member of the Class of 2018.

How did your family "meet" Bryn Mawr?

By chance. We were visiting relatives and decided to check out Haverford College. As we completed a Haverford tour, closer to dusk, we decided to stop by another college nearby — Bryn Mawr. Anisha loved the feel and we were excited. After a few visits to campus, talking to members of the BMC community and a sleepover, it was time to apply early. The rest is history, as they say!

Has Bryn Mawr’s presence in your lives evolved the relationship between you and your Mawrter?

Anisha thinks of BMC as her other home and family! This family has helped her be independent, think holistically and grow. Our relationship with Anisha has matured from being our sweet daughter into a lovely, thoughtful, caring, curious, young woman and we are so proud of her.

Share your favorite story or anecdote about your Bryn Mawr connection.

There have been many! Over the years there were Mawrters all around us, but we just didn’t realize. A business associate's spouse, a couple of associates who were bi-co couples, a few current and past parents! Recently I was having a conversation with a past colleague where we discovered that his spouse had similar experiences as Anisha and to top it all, she spent all four years in Radnor, like Anisha!

How do you support and remain connected to the College today and why?

As we got to know BMC we were very impressed with its mission and immediately decided to join the Family Leadership Committee. We attend BMC events whenever and wherever we are, and have hosted local send-off parties to incoming Freshies and their families.
