Announcing Patricia Langer as VP for Finance and Administration

June 16, 2026

The below message was sent to faculty and staff on June 16, 2026.

Dear faculty and staff colleagues:

I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Patricia M. Langer as our new vice president of finance and administration. Patricia brings more than two decades of sophisticated financial leadership, strategic planning, and operational management across prestigious higher education institutions and complex public-sector systems. She will join Bryn Mawr on Aug. 17.

Patricia joins us from Macalester College, where she has served as vice president of administration and finance since 2021, and previously as associate vice president for finance and assistant vice president for finance. At Macalester, she successfully managed a $145 million annual operating and capital budget, oversaw a wide portfolio that included business services, human resources, facility services, and campus safety, and staffed numerous critical committees of the Board of Trustees.

Her transformative leadership is highlighted by co-sponsoring a campus-wide ERP migration to Workday, launching a comprehensive zero-based budgeting project, and chairing the committee that designed and broke ground on Macalester's new Welcome Center and Residential Facility. Notably, her exceptional leadership was recognized by Twin Cities Business magazine, which named her one of the Notable Chief Financial Officers of 2024.

Prior to her impactful tenure at Macalester, Patricia served as the budget director at Carleton College from 2008 to 2013. There, she prepared and presented Carleton's $128 million annual operating and capital budgets and served as a crucial strategic partner, chairing the data group for the college's strategic plan and helping to develop its inaugural Campus Climate Action Plan.

Patricia's deep expertise in public accountability, compliance, and governance-driven decision-making is further anchored by her senior leadership roles in state government. As the administrative fiscal and budget director for the Nebraska Supreme Court, she oversaw finances and facilities for 146 courts statewide and managed an $85 million operating and capital budget request. Her earlier career includes serving as the senior accountant for the Nebraska State Historical Society and as statistics unit supervisor for the Nebraska Department of Roads.

Patricia holds a B.S. (Business Administration) from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and an MPA from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Beyond her professional roles, she is a deeply engaged community leader, serving as a board member for the Tuition Plan Consortium, LLC and the Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth (MITY), as well as contributing to committees for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM).

Patricia's remarkable track record as a collaborative leader and a dedicated change agent makes her uniquely qualified to help us bring "The Next Chapter" vision to life and manage our fiscal and physical ecosystems. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Patricia as she steps into this vital role.

A huge thank you to the search committee for their work during the search process. Members included Professor of Greek, Latin, and Classical Studies Catherine Conybeare; Professor of Psychology Anjali Thapar; and Trustees Diane Jaffe P'21, Amy Loftus '90, Barry Mills, and Board Chair Saskia Subramanian '88, M.A. '89. Katy Longley, senior consultant, advised the committee, and she will conclude her work with our finance team early this fall.

Patricia will oversee a range of functions, including the following offices: controller; human resources; campus safety; facilities services, which includes campus sustainability; and budget, as well as administrative services, including conferences and events, dining services, environmental health and safety, transportation, the book shop, day care, and the post office.

Special thanks to Tijana Stefanovic, who has ably served as interim vice president for finance since February 2026.

Wendy
