Dear Bryn Mawr College community,
I hope you are well and a bit refreshed from summer rests, travels, or just good reading. My family and I had some time away, and we are enjoying the quiet of campus in early August. The senior staff and I will be hosting a welcome back town hall for faculty and staff at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 25, in the Great Hall. Please plan now to join us for updates from the summer and information about the coming academic year.
In advance of our time together, I write to share several pieces of news.

Special thanks to Tomiko Jenkins and Katie Krimmel for serving as co-acting deans of the undergraduate college for the past seven months. They were a dynamic duo and we are all better for their leadership of the division. Moving forward, Tomiko will serve as the interim dean of the undergraduate college until a permanent dean is named. I anticipate launching that search next spring (2026). Katie will return to her role as dean of the Career and Civic Engagement Center. This academic year, she will also serve as a special advisor to the Provost, partnering with the faculty and Provost’s Office staff to explore future advising models and strengthen experiential learning and curricular planning.

Interim Provost David Karen is delegating responsibility for the Department of Athletics and Physical Education to the Undergraduate Dean's Office to facilitate more holistic and collaborative support for student-athletes. Katie Tarr has been named interim athletics director while we search for a permanent director after Cristina Fink’s departure this summer.
-
The Plan of Governance was amended slightly following consultation with the faculty and Board of Trustees to reflect title changes for the senior staff so their titles are in line with peers at other institutions and in the broader higher education marketplace.

After generously helping me transition to the College last year as my executive assistant, Susan Lewis has moved to the Provost’s Office to help support transitions in that office this year. While we complete the process of hiring a new executive assistant, you can best reach me at officeofthepresident@brynmawr.edu. Please also join me in welcoming Mallory Dubus who will join my office at the end of the month as the President’s Office Events and Project Manager. She comes from Ursinus College where she was most recently the Senior Events Manager of Protocol and Special Events.
May your final weeks of August be full of tomatoes, sweet corn, at least one more ice cream cone, and just a few more summer adventures. See you on campus soon!
