Beverly J. Lange ’67 Recognized as Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania

Beverly J. Lange ’67 has been recognized as one of the 2017 Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania by Governor Tom Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf.

Lange served as a senior physician and director of clinical affairs in the Division of Oncology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she worked from 1976 until her retirement in 2013. She also held the Yetta Deitch Novotny Chair in Pediatric Oncology at the hospital, and was a professor of pediatrics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She continues to volunteer in CHOP’s Division of Oncology.

Lange is recognized as an educator, clinical investigator and expert in pediatric leukemia and the infectious and cognitive complications of cancer treatment. She received Lifetime Career Awards from the Children’s Oncology Group and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology /Oncology. In addition to serving on Bryn Mawr's board, she served on the American Board of Pediatrics, NIH Pediatric Central Institutional Review Board and Philadelphia Opera Company.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College in History of Art and her medical degree from Temple University. She was a resident at Philadelphia General Hospital, and completed her fellowship work at the University of Pennsylvania. In May 2017 she earned her final degree: Master of Public Health.

Lange has previously been honored with the 2014 Distinguished Career Award from the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the Robert Dunning Dripps Memorial Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education from the University of Pennsylvania, the lifetime achievement award from the Children’s Oncology Group, the Temple Alumni Achievement Award, and the Pitcher of Hope Award from the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
