Bryn Mawr President Among Speakers at STEM Solutions National Leadership Conference
To help examine this issue, U.S. News & World Report will bring together leaders in education, industry and policy for the fourth annual STEM Solutions conference, taking place Monday, June 29 – Wednesday, July 1, in San Diego.
Bryn Mawr President Kim Cassidy is among the speakers taking part in the conference. She'll be giving a presentation on progress in STEM education for women and other underrepresented groups and Bryn Mawr's success and efforts in these areas.

Cassidy is committed to expanding and diversifying the STEM pipeline, building on Bryn Mawr’s decades-long success in graduating large numbers of women majors in these fields (25% of graduates from 2011-2013 vs. 7% of all female students nationally) who in turn earn advanced degrees at higher rates than women STEM graduates of nearly all institutions nationwide. More recently this success has extended to students who are members of underrepresented racial/ ethnic groups (26% of Latina and 16% of African American graduates vs., respectively, 6% and 7% nationally). The College received a 2014 FIPSE “First in the World” Grant as lead institution among a dozen colleges working to create just-in-time blended coursework in mathematics to improve successful completion of gateway STEM courses. Bryn Mawr has also hosted a STEM Posse since 2013.
