The below message was sent to faculty, staff, and students on December 17, 2025.
Dear students, staff and faculty,
I write to update you on work underway to improve the safety of our campus, and to alert you to several changes to be implemented in January.
Emergency call boxes
As noted in our September 4 and November 21 messages, the College has been upgrading and replacing emergency call boxes across campus. The majority of this work has been completed; the remaining call boxes will be upgraded and replaced by early spring.
Security cameras
As previously noted, security cameras were installed this summer in Taylor Hall, Dalton Hall, and Collier Library, complementing cameras already in place across campus. Security cameras are among the tools used to help protect people and property, support timely responses to reported concerns, and assist in investigations when incidents occur. Over winter break, security cameras will be installed in the new emergency call boxes referenced above. More detailed information, including a list of building camera locations and privacy information, is available here.
OneCard access
As planned, we are expanding the number of buildings accessed via OneCard. Effective January 5, Dalton, Guild, and The Well will require a OneCard to access at all times. The hours d which other buildings will be limited to OneCard access have been updated here. To help ensure your OneCard is always within reach, the College is offering complimentary lanyards and cell phone wallets, available through tomorrow, December 18, from 9 a.m.-12:30 a.m. at the Campus Center information desk. After Dec. 18, the wallets and lanyards will be available during regular business hours and until noon on December 23 at the Conferences and Events Office, located on the lower level of the Campus Center. More pick-up locations will be announced in January.
These safety and security improvements are grounded in a commitment to ensuring that each of us can live, learn, and work at Bryn Mawr with confidence and care for one another. The Campus Safety team will continue to monitor campus needs and share updates about future equipment improvements. Please visit How We Keep the Campus Safe for more information, and do not hesitate to reach out to Campus Safety with questions.
Sincerely,
Samir Datta
