Bryn Mawr Welcomes the Class of 2022!

August 30, 2018

With the help of customspeople, parents, family, and friends, members of the Class of 2022 braved the August heat and humidity to meet roommates and settle into their new homes in the Bryn Mawr residence halls.

The 394-member undergraduate class is among the largest ever to enroll at Bryn Mawr. Students hail from 43 states and 25 foreign countries including Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Japan, and more.

Remaining students arrive on campus this weekend. The 2018-19 academic year begins on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Fall convocation will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Goodhart Hall, followed by a community-wide picnic on Wyndham Green.

Each year the incoming class gathers in Goodhart Hall for a welcome ceremony. Here's what a few of this year's speakers had to say:

"Bryn Mawr students want knowledge that makes a difference -- wisdom." Chair of the Faculty, Professor Michael Tratner

"When you’re feeling at the edge of your capacities; when doing that one more reading, or paper, or exam, feels too big. Close your eyes. Take a breath. And say, 'I got this.' Because you do." Dean of the Undergraduate College Jennifer Walters

"We know from our alumnae that Bryn Mawr friendships last a lifetime and are among the most important relationships in their lives. And we know that while you are here, these friendships will contribute to your sense of belonging. So don’t just focus on academics, make sure you are taking time to build relationships and to have fun. Yes --- you heard me --- the president is telling you to make it a priority to have fun." Bryn Mawr President Kim Cassidy
